NW Wings After School Programs

At NW Wings Aviation, our mission is to inspire and prepare the next generation of pilots while fostering a lifelong culture of safety in aviation. Our after-school programs are designed to give students an avenue to pursue their passion for aviation, get guidance, or even get a jumpstart on their flight training.

At NW Wings Aviation, our mission is to inspire and prepare the next generation of pilots while fostering a lifelong culture of safety in aviation. Our after-school program is designed to give students a head start on their flight training, blending hands-on experience with structured ground instruction.

Although the FAA requires you to be 17 years old to take your Private Pilot checkride, there’s no minimum age to begin flight lessons or ground training.

That means students can start building knowledge and skills early—developing confidence in the cockpit long before their first solo.

Our program adapts to the goals of each student, whether that’s working steadily toward a pilot certificate or simply laying the groundwork for training in the future. For many, we recommend starting with our Pilot for a Day experience, which offers a fun and inspiring introduction to flying that often sparks a lifelong passion.

Drones are changing the way we see the world — from aerial photography and videography to infrastructure inspection and emergency response. At NW Wings Aviation, our after-school Part 107 Drone Program gives students the knowledge and training they need to operate drones safely, responsibly, and legally. Potentially opening the door to future careers in drone operation!

The FAA requires a Remote Pilot Certificate under Part 107 for anyone flying drones commercially. Students must be at least 16 years old to take the test, but just like with flight training, there’s no minimum age to start learning!

ROTC Prep/Guidance

For students considering a military pathway, the ROTC program can be a powerful stepping stone toward a career in aviation and leadership. At NW Wings Aviation, we offer ROTC prep and guidance that helps students understand the process, set realistic goals, and build a strong foundation before they apply.

Because of our connections within the aviation and military communities, we’re able to provide students and families with valuable insight into what to expect from ROTC — from application timelines and fitness standards to the aviation-specific opportunities that can open doors to flying careers.

Our role is to guide and mentor students as they prepare, whether they’re exploring ROTC for the first time or already committed to pursuing the program. By blending our aviation expertise with real-world perspective, we help the next generation of leaders enter ROTC better prepared, more confident, and ready to succeed.
