Virtual Ground School

Studying for your written exams and checkrides can be a challenge. Without structure or guidance, it can be hard to know if you are studying the right topics or getting the right knowledge.

At NW Wings Aviation, our Virtual Ground School is designed to take you from studying on your own to truly feeling prepared for your checkride. Through live Zoom sessions with an experienced instructor, you’ll learn in an interactive classroom setting where you can ask questions, get real-time explanations, and connect with fellow students. Whether you’re training for your Private Pilot License or Instrument Rating, our program focuses not only on helping you pass the FAA written exam but also on building the knowledge and confidence that will make you a safer, sharper pilot in the cockpit.

..
but a mile of runway will take you anywhere."

What You'll Need

What To Expect

There is no age requirement to begin ground training. Begin training at any time and set yourself up for success in your aviation journey!

Age Requirement

Because our ground training takes place over zoom, students are required to have a computer with a webcam to attend classes.

Technology

Before beginning ground school, you, other prospective students, and your ground instructor will meet virtually to make introductions and determine the best time of day/number of sessions per week that will work best for the class.

This is a great perk because we work to adapt to the availability of our students!

Scheduling

Once your schedule is set, you’ll join live Zoom sessions at the agreed-upon times. Each ground lesson runs about three hours and blends instructor-led teaching with open discussion, ensuring plenty of time to ask questions and clarify key concepts along the way.

Our instructors follow a structured curriculum built around FAA standards, using tailored presentations, visual aids, and proven teaching methods to give you the knowledge and confidence you’ll need to succeed on the written exam—and beyond in the cockpit.

Zoom Meetings

The total length of the course depends on how many times the class has agreed to meet each week, but on average, will take around 2.5-3 months to complete.
