At NW Wings, our CFII course is accelerated and designed to be completed in 1 week. It’s built for pilots who are serious about training and able to commit fully for the duration.

What You'll Need
The Training
You must be 18 years old or older to be eligible for an instructor rating.
Age Requirement
This course is for pilots adding the CFII (Instrument) rating to an existing CFI certificate.
Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Certificate
You must already hold an Instrument rating (appropriate category/class) and be comfortable flying IFR procedures to ACS standards.
Instrument Rating
For the Accelerated Program, you must have this knowledge test completed before arrival:
FII (Flight Instructor – Instrument)
For Accelerated: Written Exam
Successful CFII candidates should be proficient and recent in IFR operations, including:

Holding procedures and entries

Approach procedures (ILS / VOR / RNAV), missed approaches, and circling basics

IFR flight planning, clearances, and strong ATC communication

Partial panel / instrument failures and abnormal situations
-
Sound aeronautical decision-making in IFR environments
Flight Experience
Our Accelerated CFII is a 1 week program. These programs are designed for pilots who can commit to a focused training schedule for the duration. Expect frequent flights, dedicated study time, and a structured plan leading to checkride readiness.
Understand that our program is built to be completed in 1 week but there can be unexpected delays due to weather and/or maintenance.
Time Commitment
Receive CFII-specific training and endorsements to prepare for the FII knowledge test (if needed) and the CFII checkride. Training emphasizes:

Ground School

Receive flight instruction and endorsements focused on teaching instrument flying from the right seat, including:

Demonstrating and teaching holds, approaches, and missed approaches

IFR procedures, briefings, and workload management

Partial panel / simulated instrument failures

IFR scenario training (realistic decision-making and risk management)
Flight Training
A comprehensive oral exam and flight test with an FAA Inspector or authorized DPE. You’ll be evaluated on your ability to explain, demonstrate, and teach instrument procedures to instructor standards.
FAA Checkride

In our professional Flight Training Program, you will take to the skies with the help of top industry experts. You'll fly first with our experienced instructors in the cockpit, then eventually by yourself, with your instructor lending a hand on the ground. You'll learn every important maneuver you need to achieve your goals: whether as a private pilot, commercial pilot, or certified flight instructor.
Students may train in our aircraft or in their own! Our flight training courses are designed to do more than just help you pass an exam. Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and experience to be a great pilot.
